Google’s ‘Art Project’ site is a collaboration with seventeen (so far) of the world’s most famous art museums, allowing students view over a thousand works in great detail. Use Google’s “Street View” technology to move through selected galleries and learn about the museum. View featured works, zooming in at high resolution. Read about the artwork, find more by the same artist and watch YouTube videos (click the image at left to see its detail page).
You can also create your own collection by saving specific views of any of the works. Add comments and share the collection with friends and family. The image at right shows the Freer Gallery in Washington, DC.
The Google-produced video below provides additional detail and you can learn more here – Getting Started with Google Art Project (ProfHacker – The Chronicle).
